Get to know a little more about our Stock Control Manager, Donna Allen as she explains her incredibly dedicated 22 years’ experience working for the business.
Name: Donna Allen
Job title: Stock Control Manager
How long have you worked for Glidevale Protect (or other company in the group)?
I originally started at Building Product Design when it was just known as Glidevale, back in November 2000. This is my 22nd year with the company. Originally, I started work in production assembling slate and tile vents as well as products like trickle vents and standard building accessories. I was then promoted to team leader and spent a few years working in the spray department before moving into the laboratory to do all the required testing on the membrane products. I then moved to work as the coordinator between sales and production and was in this role until 2020 when I was promoted to my current position of stock control manager.
What are the key aspects of your role?
The main one is to ensure continuity of supply for our products. I also ensure production is planned to keep up with the demand from customers and liaise with Sales to ensure customers are happy.
What is your favourite film and why?
Titanic. I love history, it was my favourite subject at school. I went to the cinema to watch it quite a few times as I was fascinated by what happened.
I can’t get through the week without….
Numerous cups of tea (Brad Saxton, our factory sales co-ordinator makes the best tea)!
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A train driver! My family have always been train spotters and I used to love spending time in the summer holidays picnicking and playing while waiting to spot the next train.
What historical figure would you most like to meet?
It would have to be Winston Churchill just to be able to quiz him on what it was like to be Prime Minister in World War 2.
What TV show are you currently binge-watching?
Greys Anatomy for the fourth time. Every episode makes me laugh and cry. It’s a must if you haven’t already watched it!
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I’m a bit of both! As soon as I wake up, I start talking and never stop but I can also burn the midnight oil at a weekend.
Have you ever met anyone famous?
No, but I’m gutted I never got to meet my idol, Meat Loaf.
Staycation or exotic holiday?
Staycation. Paignton or Newquay are my favourite places to go on holiday.
