Job title: Factory manager, Building Product Design’s manufacturing facility in Merthyr Tydfil
How long have you worked for Glidevale Protect (or other company in the group)?
Five years, I started working for Glidevale Protect’s parent company Building Product Design in May 2017.
What are the key aspects of your role?
My job consists of managing our production facility in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, as well as covering engineering/maintenance. I also look after any production and personnel needs.
What are you most proud of? (outside of work)
My family are so special to me and I am extremely proud of the way my children have grown into adults as well as my six grandchildren.
What music do you like listening to?
I like a variety of music ranging from Madness to Abba and everything in between.
I can’t get through the week without….
Making someone laugh, Earl Grey tea and a bag of Peanut M&Ms.
What TV show are you currently binge-watching?
Love Island and Blue Blood, as well as re-runs of “Only Fools and Horses”.
What three things would you take with you on a desert island?
My wife, my “Joe 90” multi-tool and my portable BBQ.
Who inspires you?
My wife because she puts up with me even though I drive her mad on occasions and she keeps my feet firmly on the ground (especially if I know what’s good for me)!
What is your idea of the perfect day?
Spending time with my family around the pool when my bar is open (although I have to blow the pool up first).
Have you ever met anyone famous?
From the world of TV, Mr Ben Sheppard and Mrs Brown, plus pop stars Gary Barlow and Bryan McFadden. In sport, I’ve met footballers Kenny Dalgleish and Ronnie Whelan, Gary Lineker and Clayton Blackmore. I’ve also been lucky enough to meet cricketers David Gower and Ian Botham as well as from rugby, Sir Clive Woodward and the late Jonah Lomu. Last but not least, Building Product Design’s very own Ben Gerry and Miles Coppinger…these last two being the most important!
