Introducing Beverly Davies, our Production Manager who has worked at our Merthyr site for 26 years! She tells us why she loves her production role and fills us in on her favourite music and her love of sightseeing.

How long have you worked for Glidevale Protect? I have been with the business since 2006 but have actually worked here on the Merthyr site since 1997 – working for two previous companies before Glidevale Protect and its parent company Building Product Design! So, in total, 26 years!
Talk us through a typical working day. On a weekly basis I create a production plan and communicate it to my manager and colleagues at our Pinxton site. I create the relevant worksheets, pallet sheets and quantities and then distribute to the production operatives. Every day I monitor the production to ensure it’s running as planned, ensure the products are booked into the system, organise the despatch and occasionally deal with urgent orders and make sure they are despatched on time.
What do you most enjoy about the work that you do? I began working as a production operative, then was promoted to supervisor, then manager, so I know everything about the production process and the materials. I love everything about production, from start to finish!
What music do you like listening to? I like most genres of music, from The Eagles to Taylor Swift, but my favourite tunes are 70s & 80s. Glam rock and new romantic stuff. Brings back great memories.
Who inspires you? My son. He sees the good in everything and everyone. He makes me proud every day.
Favourite TV show? This is a hard one. I have so many! The Sopranos, Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, Line of Duty, Happy Valley to name but a few!
I can’t get through the week without… A nice glass of Chablis!
Favourite way to spend the weekend (and who with)? At my caravan in Carmarthenshire with my husband, family and friends.
Staycation or exotic holiday? Both really, I love the UK. I travelled to the USA this summer and loved that too.
Morning person or night owl? Neither!
By the beach or poolside? Neither. I like sightseeing!
Do you have any pets? Not at the moment. My plan is to home a rescue dog when I retire.
Tea or coffee? Tea.
Three things or people you’d take on a desert island? My husband, music, and yes…..Chablis!!
What advice would you give to your younger self? Do what you want – not what others want.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had? The first day I started working in a hardware store, they put me on the customer service desk! Needless to say, I never went back!
Do you have any hobbies? I’ve acquired a calligraphy set but not started yet.
Do you have any phobias or irrational fears? Wasps. I’d run a mile from them!
